START YOUR
BASE JUMPING JOURNEY
This 4-day training course at the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls, Idaho, is tailored to give students the skills to start their BASE jumping journey. The bridge is 486 feet tall, providing a safe and spacious landing zone.
The course has been designed by instructors with over 25 years of combined experience. Initially structured by Jimmy and Marta, the course was updated and fine-tuned by Ben and Brett over the last 10 years to ensure it’s both effective and enjoyable.
MEET THE INSTRUCTORS
OVER 20 YEARS OF COMBINED EXPERIENCE

BEN SCHWARTZ
With over 1,000 BASE jumps across 9 countries, Ben has been part of the Apex team since 2014. Outside of BASE, he is an aerospace engineer who enjoys skiing, speed flying, and SCUBA diving.

BRETT WHIP
A born Alaskan, Brett has made over 750 jumps at over 75 exits since joining the Apex team in 2014. He now travels the country as a field technician.

REQUIREMENTS & COURSE DETAILS
REQUIREMENTS:
- 200 Skydives (minimum) – equivalent other airsports experience considered
- Heads-up attitude and capabilities
- Helmet (no non-rated skydiving helmets)
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
- 4 days of training and jumping at the Perrine Bridge
- As many BASE jumps as time and weather allow (usually 5-15 jumps, depending on student goals and conditions)
- BASE-specific container and canopy at no charge
- Low student-to-instructor ratio (max 2:1)
- Supervised packing and packing instruction
- Ground school and pre-jump briefings
- Videos of jumps taken during the course
- Advanced Ground School (site evaluation, strategies, safety, gear knowledge)
- Apex goodie bag (includes t-shirt, pull-up cord, stickers, and more)
- Ongoing guidance, mentorship, and free return courses.

Our Aim:
To give you the skills and knowledge to start your journey into BASE, as well as ongoing mentoring and continuing education. Come back to audit future courses for free to help fully cement your knowledge
How it works:
Each day we’ll cover some theory, do some practice for muscle memory, and then JUMP! Nothing cements theory into skill like the real thing.
What you’ll learn:
- Multiple exit strategies, freefall, opening, and heading correction essentials
- How to fly a BASE canopy, landing accuracy, and the differences between it and skydiving gear
- How to recognize malfunctions and what to do to correct them
- How to pack a BASE canopy for any object from a 150’ antenna to a 3000’ cliff
- Different methods for deploying your canopy depending on the object and conditions
- Correctly setting up your BASE gear and choosing the right gear for you
- How to read the conditions and assess the best plan for the jump
- Assessing different objects to jump moving forward
- BASE ethics
- Strategies and approaches to take with you going forward throughout your BASE jumping career to make you a safe and successful jumper.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
- Out-of-Course Gear Rental: If you need gear after the course, we offer canopy and container rental at $20 per jump, plus a one-time inspection fee of $70.
- Recurrency Auditing: After completing the FBJC, you are always invited to join us again at the bridge for ongoing guidance and support. A small recurrency fee may apply for packing assistance if needed.
- Optional pre-FBJC packing course available at the Apex BASE factory in Temecula, CA. The more you prepare for packing before the course, the better the chance of you getting more jumps during the course.
- Discount on a full canopy/container package if purchased new from Apex BASE for students of the First BASE Jump Course. Additionally, subject to availability you may be able to buy the gear you jump during the course at a discounted rate.

This course is held at the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls, Idaho, standing 486 feet above the Snake River, with a large grassy landing area, offering the ideal location for first jumps, continuing advancement, and plenty of fun!
