Description

COURSE 101

B.A.S.E. RIGGING EDUCATION

This course is intended for experienced skydivers interested in learning about BASE-specific equipment.

This comprehensive course will delve into specifics of the single parachute system. Participants will be provided with a detailed examination of the various components of a BASE jumping rig, including harness, container, lines, canopy and pilot chute.

Topics will include:

  • A brief history of closure systems
  • Gear inspection
  • Maintenance practices
  • The functionality of each piece of gear and understanding how they work together

Knowing and understanding your gear is essential in the world of BASE jumping.

Unlike skydiving, BASE jumping has no governing body or mandated requirements. Properly selecting gear, following good packing techniques, learning how to inspect, and assessing any issues that might compromise the parachute’s integrity, are all imperative in minimizing your risks.
