Over the years we’ve built many custom lightweight Summits by request. The Summit Lite combines what we’ve learned from these builds, and from the development of the ultralight TL2. This represents the best blend of lightweight tech without fundamentally changing the elements that have made the Summit so popular: all around functionality, durability, and incredibly high build quality. A handful of small changes add up to make the Summit Lite a versatile and lightweight tool for all BASE missions:

As with all of our designs we put an emphasis on modularity and performance on all styles of jump. When slider-up, jumpers can utilize the through loop closure and stiffener in the Pin Protector Flap for a low profile pack job with unmatched bridle security. On low objects jumpers can remove the stiffener in the Pin Protector Flap (and store it in the built-in accessory pocket), use top flap closure for ease and convenience, and take advantage of the Magnet Bridle when going handheld. FEATURES
Every Summit Lite is handcrafted from start to finish in our Southern California facility. Each unit undergoes two thorough quality control inspections. First the independent container components are inspected: harness, back pad, leg pads, cover flaps, and other elements. The second inspection is conducted after all components have been merged into a complete container.
TRADITIONAL CLOSING OPTION
The Summit Lite is one of the most versatile containers on the market with two different closing methods. Many jumpers prefer to utilize traditional top & bottom closing loops and the Summit maintains this functionality. Converting between closing styles is easy to perform in the field quickly and without tools.
THROUGH LOOP CLOSING OPTION
The Summit Lite is one of the most versatile containers on the market with two different closing methods. Jumpers who value a sleek, low profile rig will love using the top internal “through loop” to further compress the pack job. Converting between closing styles is easy to perform in the field quickly and without tools.
PIN PROTECTOR FLAP INSERT
Terminal jumpers, trackers, and wingsuit jumpers will appreciate the stiffener insert we include with every container. The stiffener can be installed quickly to provide additional security to the pin protector flap for high airspeed flights. A hidden pocket is built-in to the container to store the insert when not in use.
ADAPTABLE PIN PROTECTOR FLAP
The pin protector flap was designed to operate unhindered on all jumps. There is no need to open the pin protector flap for any freefall jump however, extra-cautious static-line jumpers will appreciate the option to cleanly tuck the flap entirely out of sight. No more floppy open pin protector flaps on exit!
REMOVABLE D3O BACK PROTECTION
Apex was the first to build spine protection into a container system. The D3O Viper Stealth back protector has proven to be an effective method of protection and Apex builds an independent pocket (separate from the stash bag pocket) to accommodate these pads as part of the standard container package. The D3O insert can be removed and installed easily on unpacked containers.
BOTTOMLESS CORNERS
Standard on all Apex containers. They improve canopy extraction during wingsuit, tracking, and head low deployments. As far as we’re concerned, every container should have them so they are standard on all Summit Lite containers.
ULTRA LOW PROFILE, ULTRALIGHT WEIGHT
The Summit Lite was designed to be lightweight and low profile. Especially when paired with our UltraLite canopies, only the TL2 can match the low weight and low volume of the Summit Lite in an all-around system. For jumpers looking for the most durable container design, we recommend the standard Summit.
ULTRA LIGHT & ULTRA COMFY LEG STRAPS
The Summit Lite features a new narrow leg pad designed to reduce weight, while still being wide enough to instill feelings of comfort and confidence. The leg straps feature industry-proven AustriAlpin aluminum hardware for maximum strength with minimal weight.
ARTICULATED HIP RINGS
Articulated hip rings allow for more flexibility in the leg straps when climbing ladders and maneuvering around tricky exit points. They are also optimal for jumpers looking to perform aerials or other jumps where maximum flexibility and movement are a priority. Please note that this option will add weight to the final product.
MAGNET BRIDLE
Do you ever jump handheld? If so, the MAG Bridle is an ideal option for you. With magnets built into the right shoulder of the rig and bridle you’ll always be confident in your bridle security on handheld jumps. Lefties, we love you too! If you’d prefer a left-handed MAG setup give us a call and we’ll take care of you.

INTEGRATED RISERS
While 3 ring cutaway systems serve a valuable purpose for many BASE jumpers, modern trends have shown a tremendous growth in the popularity of integrated riser systems. Their light weight, low bulk, added strength and simplicity have led to them being the most popular riser selection. In light of this trend, and because we feel that integrated risers are a superior option for most jumpers, we have made them standard on all of our containers.
The 3 ring system will continue to be available for jumpers who prefer them. 3 ring risers come at an additional cost due to the added complexity of the system, and additional materials (hardware, cable housing, cutaway handle, etc.). All Apex 3 ring systems incorporate the Integrity Riser System with rear-facing 3 rings. This system is more durable against wear and stronger than traditional forward-facing riser systems. Please note that adding 3 rings will increase the finished weight of your container.
INTEGRITY 3-RING RISERS (Optional)
Apex BASE container systems can be fitted with our Integrity 3-Ring Riser system. Integrity 3-ring systems are rear-facing and provide several benefits over forward-facing 3-ring systems:
- Strength: Forward facing 3-ring systems require that a hole be punched through the riser to facilitate the white (Type IIA) loop. Punching a hole in any webbing reduces strength and longevity.
- Durability: Forward facing riser systems expose the white (Type IIA) loop to damage during packing. Rear facing systems protect this fragile component from wear during packing and use.
Due to the added components (hardware, cutaway cables, housing) and complexity of the 3-ring system it is available as an option on all Apex BASE containers. Also note that this option will add weight to the final product.
